It was an emotional night for President Barack Obama, his family, and America.

The President, who delivered his farewell speech in Chicago on Tuesday, January 10, made sure to thank those closest to him for their support throughout his presidency.

While he of course thanked Vice President Joe Biden and the American people, it was his tribute to Michelle and their two daughters, Malia and Sasha, that left everybody in tears.

"Michelle LaVaughn Robinson, girl of the Southside," he said as the crowd gave the FLOTUS a standing ovation.

"For the past 25 years, you've been not only my wife and mother of my children, but you've been my best friend."

OK everybody, wipe your tears!

"You took on a role you didn't ask for and made it your own with grace and grit and style and good humor. You made the White House a place that belongs to everybody,” he continued.

“And a new generation sets its sights higher because it has you as a role model. You've made me proud. You've made the country proud."

While that moment had everybody in tears, there certainly wasn’t a dry eye in the building when the POTUS began to thank his two children.

"Malia and Sasha, under the strangest of circumstances, you have become two amazing young women, smart and beautiful, but more importantly, kind and thoughtful and full of passion,” he said as Malia watched from the crowd.

Sasha, 15, missed her father's speech because she was studying for an exam. You'd think the teacher would understand, right?

“You wore the burden of years in the spotlight so easily. Of all that I've done in my life, I'm most proud to be your dad."

Wow, what an emotional night. Thank you, President Obama!
