“I think we’d all like to see it wrap up with a movie… For all of the us, the dream would be to wrap it up with a film. I think that that would be cool,” Lucy said.
But don’t worry, Pretty Little Liars fans. The main cast isn’t leaving Rosewood anytime soon. “I think I speak on behalf of the whole cast that we work really hard. It’s a difficult show to shoot sometimes just based on the hours, but it’s totally worth it and gratifying that people are still loving it and enjoying it and tuning in and tweeting about it,” Lucy said. “We always think we’ve hit the peak and that it’ll somehow decline, but we’re still on the inline, which is crazy after five years. That doesn’t really happen in TV a lot. It’s really rare, and especially to be so emotionally-invested in the character. I still absolutely love playing Aria, and I can’t wait to read the next scripts and to get to see the different sides of her that I get to play. So it’s very creatively fulfilling still, which is awesome.”
We’re trying not to get our hopes too high at the prospect of a movie, but given that the show is doing so well in the ratings and both the cast and creative team is on board, this seems very possible. Showrunner Marlene King told E! Online earlier this year: "That's always been the ultimate goal, is that it ends its life in one medium and starts another life on film. I love that. Oh we want an in-theaters film! Big, big, big opening weekend, with all those Pretty Little Liars fans are coming out. It would be so much fun. And we'd get to do so much like big stuff too.” Yes, please!
