The pilot episode of Pretty Little Liars was never officially titled... until now. A clever fan asked PLL showrunner Marlene King what she would name the ep if she could. Marlene said she would call it: "Popular In Life And Death."

You may recall the line is spoken by Spencer in the first episode while the Liars are at Ali’s funeral. “Can you believe what a scene this is?” Hanna asks. “Ali would have loved it,” comments Aria. “Popular in life and death,” says a cynical Spence (even then, she got the best lines).

We wonder if this scene is on Marlene’s mind because the Season 4 premiere may have a similar one. Season 4, Episode 1: “A is for A-L-I-V-E” sees the girls in their Sunday best at yet another funeral, and the episode contains many a throwback to the pilot that started it all. Maybe we’ll even get the aforementioned line uttered again. Ali may not have been the most likeable person but, even three seasons later, she remains a popular topic of discussion as the Liars try to de-mask Red Coat and the larger “A” Team agenda.

Do you like Marlene’s title? If not, what would you call the pilot episode? Let us know in the comments below!
