We’re not just looking forward to the return of Pretty Little Liars tonight to see some familiar faces, but also to meet some new ones. One newbie who has us particularly excited is Officer Gabriel Holbrook (Sean Faris), a state police officer sent to Rosewood to investigate...well, take your pick. What can we expect from this handsome young copper?
“He's a new cop in town and he has a partner, Tanner (Roma Maffia), and they're good cops,” Marlene King told TV Guide. “We'll find out more and more what Wilden (Bryce Johnson) has been up to and he certainly has been after the PLLs, so it's nice to have two cops come on the scene looking for the truth. But sometimes looking for the truth isn't comforting to them; they have a lot to hide.”
We’re excited to see PLL take their police characters in a new direction and how it might change the Liars’ relationship to law enforcement. The whole “creepy cop” thing the show had going on with Wilden and Garrett was getting a little old. It made sense in the early seasons of PLL when the Liars had less to hide - otherwise, they probably would have gone running to the police eventually - but now that the girls are committed to the hunt for “A,” they have a lot more to lose.
We’ve speculated before that the state police are called to Rosewood because Wilden is the one found in the trunk, and we think Marlene’s tease supports that theory. If Holbrook and Tanner are investigating Wilden’s death, then a lot of his shady dealings are going to come to light. We wouldn’t be surprised if he had a whole Liars mystery board with thumbtacks and string and everything. Creep.
Are you excited to meet Holbrook? How do you think he will get along with the Liars? Let us know in the comments below!
