In typical Pretty Little Liars fashion, Season 4 kicked off with a bang! Or, shall we say death. However, if you think the Liars’ problems are going to disappear because creepy Detective Wilden’s death, then think again. Wilden’s death actually opens the door for more problems, especially when handsome officer Holbrook (Sean Faris) comes to Rosewood looking for answers — and Ashley Marin might just be his No. 1 suspect. You know what they say, "If the muddy Manolo fits..."
Wetpaint Entertainment recently caught up with Ashley Benson at the Summer Slurpee Days event in Los Angeles, and the Pretty Little Liars star gave us the scoop on Rosewood’s newest residents, Hanna’s relationship with Mona, and why she thinks Haleb is dunzo forever. (We’re sobbing, too, Haleb fans!) However, Ashley does think there’s someone Hanna should rebound with in Season 4.
Wetpaint Entertainment: What about the first episodes, beyond the trunk, where are we finding you guys?
Ashley Benson: You find us right where we left off, in that same exact position actually. And then there's just a lot of answers. There's a lot of new people that come in.
Just to mess up our lives, basically.
What can you tell us about these new characters?
They're just random people who pop in to kind of mess with each of our characters. Hanna has a lot with the police this season, which is going to be really cool. A lot with Laura, a lot of Mom time, a lot of Dad time, so it's been fun.
What about Mona? You guys are working together?
Yeah, and I love Janel [Parrish], but I hate Mona. Ugh.
Your character has the most complicated relationship with her?
Yeah, for sure.
Is that working out?
I mean, it is what it is. I don't think Hanna trusts her. She has to be with her now at this point just because, but it's hard. Like Hanna feels really betrayed by her, but she kind of has to have her right now.
There's a lot of new people coming in. There's a lot of story arcs. There's a lot of romances, but is the focus still to find out the big mystery, red coat?
Yeah. Well, there's a lot of people that join the A Team. There's a lot of people that join the red coat team. There's just a lot of people. We think that we see Ali. There's a lot that's happening. I don't know if we're going crazy, which we very well could be. So yeah, we just find out a lot of people who are working together on this.
What about the friendships between the four girls?
They stick together. They get really close.
No more tests?
No, no. They have to trust each other at this point.
Do they trust Toby?
I mean, I don't know.
And there’s a hot new cop. You said Hanna has a lot with the police. What about Sean Faris?
I love Sean. He's so sweet. Yeah, I get to interact with him a lot. It's been fun.
In what way?
I can't tell you, but you'll find out. It's really cool.
Is it all antagonistic with her and the police because he's really cute?
Well, let's see where the storyline goes. There's a good thing with them too this year.
Is there any hope for Hanna and Caleb when he does go off to Ravenswood?
No. It's done, sadly.
Who should she date then?
I don't know. It's really annoying. I just wanted to date Emily because I love hanging out with Shay, and we always joke around saying that all the fans love us and our friendship. So Emily would be my new girlfriend.
It's time for exploration.
Yeah, watch those rumors fly everywhere.
What do you think Haleb fans? Are you upset over where Season 4 is headed with your favorite ship? Do you support Hemily? Sound off in the comments!
