Jessica DiLaurentis is back in Rosewood and the Liars lives in Season 4 of Pretty Little Liars. It’s hard to get a read on Ali’s mom -- is she a grieving mother looking for a fresh start or a scheming villain looking to take revenge on the town that took her daughter? Sure, she may just be misunderstood, but the Liars are suspicious, and so are we! Here’s why we think Mrs. D. has joined the “A” Team.

Swelling the ranks

Mona, Toby, and Spence may have jumped ship, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty more “A” Team members where that came from. In fact, Ashley Benson (Hanna) said that “more people keep joining The ‘A’ Team” in Season 4, and we still haven’t gotten that creepy pic of more than a dozen pairs of “A” Team black gloves Marlene King tweeted last year out of our heads. We think the “A” Team is more extensive than the Liars fear, and we think Mrs. D. may be one of their number.

“A” Target on Rosewood Parents

It seems more than just coincidental that the moment Ali’s mom returns to Rosewood, “A” and her team start upping the ante on the Rosewood parentals. Sure, “A” often targeted the Liars’ parents prior to Mrs. DiLaurentis’ return, but she seems to be bringing it to a whole new level in Season 4. We think it could be because the “A” Team has a new consultant who not only know the Liars well, but their parents, too. Who knows better how to take out a parent than another parent?

Money, money, money, money

Television drama isn’t always known for its realism, but we still can’t help but wonder how the “A” Team funds its nefariousness. You know how many quarters it must take to launder those black hoodies after jaunts in the Rosewood wilderness? These things add up. It seems unlikely that the “A” Team is composed entirely of high school students or even young professionals, especially in this economy! We think there must be at least one older member of the “A” Team funding their missions, and we think Mrs. D. could be that member. Ali’s fam seems to be pretty well off - summers in Cape May, lunches at the country club, etc. With Ali gone and Jason on his own, Mrs. DiLaurentis must be looking for worthy causes to invest her money in...

Motive

We’re not really sure why “A” and her flying monkeys have it in for the Liars, so it is harder to speculate on Mrs. DiLaurentis’ motives for joining the “A” Team, but the woman currently seems pretty unbalanced and we could see someone with an agenda of their own taking advantage of that. If “A” were to somehow convince Mrs. D. that the Liars were involved in the death of her beloved daughter (or, at the very least, know more that they are saying), than we could see her getting on board with the “A” Team agenda pretty darn fast.
