UPDATE: Lucy Hale (Aria) seemed to tell TV Guide that we will learn Red Coat's identity in the Season 4 finale, which is the episode write before the Halloween episode. So which one is it? Janel says it happens in the Halloween episode. Reading back over Lucy's statement, it's possible that she could have been talking about the Halloween episode, too. But what if she was talking about the finale? We'd really just like to know for sure!
We’ve been promised the identity of Red Coat this season, but now we know exactly when it’s coming: the Halloween episode. Janel Parrish (Mona) talked to Clevver TV at last night’s Do Something Awards. What did she have to say about the big reveal?

“You’re going to find out exactly who Red Coat is and you’re gonna scream,” said Janel of the Halloween episode. We’re glad she expects us to have such a strong reaction. Strong reactions usually mean awesome reveals. Though after the Season 3 finale’s so-called “Red Coat Reveal,” we don’t want to get our hopes up without good reason, because that was a total bust.
Janel also talked the big Mona twist at the end of Season 4, Episode 8: “The Guilty Girl’s Handbook” when Mona turned herself in for Wilden’s murder before Hanna could. Janel wouldn’t delve too deeply into Mona’s motivation, but she did talk about Mona’s affection for her former best friend.
“If Mona has a soft spot for anybody on the show, it’s Hanna,” said Janel. “She knew that Hanna couldn’t handle it. She knew she wasn’t ready, so she decided to go on in there. And, Hanna’s correct: no one can lie like Mona can.”
The way Janel makes it sound, Mona turned herself in solely for Hanna’s benefit, which is pretty aww-worthy, even for the former “A.” On the other hand, no one can lie like Mona, and she usually has about three schemes operating at any one time. Does she have more than one reason for confessing to Wilden’s murder?
Who do you think Red Coat is? And why do you think Mona turned herself in for Wilden’s murder? Sound off in the comments below!
