We’ve been seriously enjoying a little more Jake (Ryan Guzman) screen time since Aria (Lucy Hale) gave the martial arts cutie a second shot. And while we want to trust him, since he’s done such a great job making Aria feel safe, the Season 3 reveal that Toby was on the “A” team makes us unable to rest on our feels.
But according to Ryan Guzman, we don’t have as much to fear with Jake as we did with Spencer’s main squeeze — at least, not when it comes to his involvement with that hellish mob of up-to-no-gooders. “It seems like Jake is coming from the heart, and he’s not on the ‘A’ team,” Ryan reveals in a Hollywood Life interview.
However, that doesn’t mean everything is going to be clean and squeaky where Jake is concerned — we are still in Rosewood, after all. “You’re going to dive into Jake’s life a little more,” the actor says of his upcoming scenes. “You’ll find out what makes him tick, and you’ll see him become more honest with Aria.”
Oh, honesty, something the Liars aren’t great at. So, how’s that going to go? Possibly as you’d expect, possibly better. “I can’t say how Aria reacts to that honesty, though, or what her feelings are.”
One thing we can look forward to is Aria’s new man coming face-to-face with Ezra, and Ryan teases that the confrontation won’t be “a pretty sight.” Other than the attractiveness of that scene, we have to agree we’re nervous for that moment.
