Spencer (Troian Bellisario) has been through enough drama to last a lifetime, but it seems her share of misery is far from over. What did E! Online have to say about Spence’s upcoming troubles in Pretty Little Liars Season 4?

According to E! Online, Spencer will soon be facing a new, seemingly non-“A”-related problem. As senior year progresses, the academic pressure is getting to Spence and she turns to new character Brenda to deal. Brenda is “an academic overachiever with a dirty little secret for her success.” Brenda’s secret: pills. And, according to E! Online, soon “Emily won't be the only Rosewood student with a history of popping pills.”

Yikes! It sounds like Spencer will start to take a “study drug” in an attempt to stay academically competitive. We’re actually really looking forward to this storyline. Not only will this give Troian something meatier to chew acting-wise we’re still impressed with her turn as a Spencer struggling to deal with Toby’s betrAyal in Season 3 but it addresses a super relevant issue for many teenagers.

The New York Times received more than 200 submissions for its recent call for personal stories from high school and college students who abuse Adderall for academic advantage. Spencer totally fits the profile, and we’re interested to see how PLL tells this story thematically. Plot wise, we’re guessing “A” can’t wait to get her greedy little hands on the extra blackmail material.

Do you think a pill-popping Spencer is a storyline PLL should pursue? Sound off in the comments below!
