The Paily relationship has been equal parts heartbreaking and beautiful in Season 4 as Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Paige (Lindsey Shaw) try to determine if a future together is possible. Here is a list of our favorite moments from this Pretty Little Liars epic romance so far this season.

“I Love You”s in “A is For A-L-I-V-E”

Emily hasn’t had the easiest last few years, which is why Paige’s plan for the two to attend Stanford together as far away from “A” and Rosewood as possible is so perfect. In this Season 4 premiere scene, Paige paints a pretty picture of their post-graduation life: living together, studying on the beach, and spending weekends in San Francisco. Emily says yes to it all - to Stanford and Paige — and the two exchange “I love you”s for the first time. Aw!

Poolside Chat in “Face Time”

With Emily’s future as a swimmer and the trust with her parents both in jeopardy, who does she choose to run to? Paige. In this sweet scene, Emily visits Paige at the school pool. Paige reassures Em that they can find another dream, if they have to, demonstrating how much Paige is willing to give to fit Em into her life. “All these terrible things in my life right now, how do I feel so lucky?” Em asks her. The two walk back to Emily’s house hand-in-hand, and it is adorable.

Dockside Chat in “Into the Deep”

One of our favorite Paily Season 4 scenes is also one of the most heartbreaking. In “Into the Deep,” Paige and Emily finally confront the elephant in the room: that Emily might not be able to swim competitively again and, therefore, won’t be able to attend Stanford with Paige. The moonlit scene is so raw and so real, and — even in their misery — you can see how much these two characters love one another. Even with all of the crying, this scene remains one of our favorite Paily scenes not just of the season, but of all time.

Dancing in “Bring Down the Hoe”

These two crazy kids still haven’t worked things out in Season 4, Episode 11: “Bring Down the Hoe,” but that doesn’t mean they can’t dance together! At the school’s hoedown, Paily decides not to overthink things. “I want to dance with you. No. Before they turn the lights off,” Emily tells Paige, so they do. It is oh-so-sweet, and makes us hope that - even with everything working against these two - they might just find a happy ending.
