Last night, we were slapped in the face with the shocking revelation that Ezra (Ian Harding) is “A” on Pretty Little Liars. Yes, like the “A.” Executive producer Oliver Goldstick has already confirmed that this is not a red herring. But before we just assume that Ezra is straight-up evil to the core... the story might be a bit more complicated than that.

On August 28, Oliver told TV Line that details on how (and why?!) Ezra is “A” will be revealed. But there’s a catch. They’re not coming right away.

Pretty Little Liars’ next episode airs on October 22, but Oliver says details about Ezra as “A” won’t really be a part of that night’s installment.

“Because of the nature of the Halloween episode, the mystery of [Ezra] doesn’t move forward that much; it’s a standalone episode… As far as the explosive revelation of last night, it builds on that without giving you explanations. It builds on Ezra’s culpability of being ‘A,’ but it doesn’t explain a lot of questions you’ll have as an audience. You have to wait for 4B for that.”

Halloween will be devoted to setting the stage for PLL’s new spin-off, Ravenswood, which premieres directly after it that same night. It won’t be until the second half of Season 4 this January when we finally start getting some answers about dear ezrA.

“Yes, there is something that is about to be exposed and revealed in 4B. I guess what I’m saying is that this is going to escalate and be more explosive and mind-blowing.”

So is Ezra for sure “A”, or is he just on the “A” team? Oliver teases, “I can’t give that away, I will just say you’re really in hot territory and very close.” Make of that what you will.
