There’s something awesomely contrary about Pretty Little Liars insensitive bad boy Noel Kahn appearing on Dancing With the Stars. OK, it’s actually the man behind the role, Brant Daugherty, who will be appearing as a contestant in Season 17, but that doesn’t mean we can’t occasionally pretend. Here are five other reasons we’re excited to see Brant on DWTS!

Because he’s not getting any play on PLL

Noel has been sadly absent (well, sad for us, not so much for the Liars) from recent episodes of PLL and by “recent,” we mean for an entire season. That’s right! We haven’t seen Noel since Season 3, Episode 13: “This is a Dark Ride,” and that’s kind of terrible. Even when Noel is around, he doesn’t get very much to do. We’re excited to see Brant in something that will truly allow him to shine even if it has more to do with stretching his actual muscles than his acting muscles.

Because we’ve heard him play the guitar — and he’s awesome

Musical talent has to count for something on DWTS, right? Way back when in Season 1, we were treated to an impromptu vocal performance from our girl Aria. Her guitarist? The unexpectedly well-rounded Mr. Noel Kahn. Brant had actually never played the guitar before PLL scribe Oliver Goldstick wrote that scene, but was game to learn for the show and, according to Zap2it, stuck with lessons afterward. Sounds like exactly the kind of can-do attitude and commitment that makes winners on DWTS. We’re eager to see if Brant’s propensity for chords translates to the cha-cha.

So Noel and Jake can have a dance off

We already have one dancing machine on PLL in Ryan Guzman (aka Rosewood’s Jake, aka IRL Step Up Revolution star). We got to see Jake’s country-and-western moves in Season 4, Episode 11: “Bring Down the Hoe,” but, sadly, Jake and Ezra avoided a dance-off for Aria’s heart (missed opportunity, PLL). But this idea doesn’t have to be abandoned altogether! We can contrive dozens of reasons for a Noel/Ryan dance-off yes, they’re all be nonsensical, but we’re willing to suspend disbelief for one teeny dance scene. In the rain. To Bruce Springsteen. (Hey, if we’re gonna do this, we might as well do it right.)

Because Bill Nye will be there, too

OK, so this one’s a bit of a stretch for a Brant-specific list, but it’s Bill freaking Nye. Plus, Brant is excited about it, too. He posted this Instagram pic with The Science Guy himself. Sorry, Ash, Luce, Troian, and Shay you may have just been ousted as Brant’s coolest co-stars ever.

Because it will probably help Brant’s career

On PLL, Noel is a total douche, but in real life Brant seems like a sweet, down-to-earth guy. DWTS will most likely increase his visibility to a larger-scale demographic. As much as we’d like to keep Brant available for the occasional PLL appearance for the rest of his natural-born life, we want what’s best for the actor and if appearing on DWTS - leads to larger roles, then we’re happy for him!
