The cast and crew of Pretty Little Liars just finished a mini-vacation, and now they’re back to work filming the second half of Season 4. This isn’t just any PLL episode, though! According to the cast and crew, there are some huge visual changes coming for Season 4, Episode 19: “Shadow Play.”

Writer Joseph Dougherty has revealed that much of Episode 19 will be filmed in black and white. “#PLL 419.  Happening now in glorious black-and-white on Stage 6,” he tweeted on September 9.

Included in the photo is a quote from crime and suspense writer Raymond Chandler, which reads, “The streets were dark with something more than night.” Sounds intensely ominous, no? We hope the Little Liars are prepared for whatever is out there in the dark watching them!

So will the entire episode be in black and white like an old movie, or will there be bits of color sprinkled in. “Black-and-white with sequences in color,” Joseph explains. “Think Wizard of Oz reversed.”

Troian Bellisario (Spencer), who just got home from a whirlwind trip to London with her boyfriend, Patrick J. Adamstweeted, “Work starts at 5am In case there was any misunderstanding about vacation being over-But it's @Kockenlocker episode so I'm not complaining ;)”

Janel Parrish (Mona) added, “A black and white night in Rosewood sounds like a wicked good time to me. What do you think of Pretty Little Liars’ new black and white twist?
