We know that Season 4, Episode 20: “Free Fall” of Pretty Little Liars is going to be “crazy,” but that’s par for the course on PLL. What else is going down in the Season 4B episode? Well, it looks like Ezra (Ian Harding) will be making the Rosewood rounds. What is he up to?

PLL writer Maya Goldsmith shared this photo of Ian looking handsome as Ezra on the PLL set. He’s dressed in a suit (no, not a black one) and it looks like he is hanging out in his Rosewood High classroom and, apparently, he’s not alone.

“Hmm. Who is Ezra talking to?” Maya tweeted along with the pic. His expression is pretty passive in the snapshot, but is that a tinge of anger we see? Could Ezra be discussing the “A” game with someone? (Perhaps Mona, who we have suspicions might be teaming up with Ezra?) Or maybe he’s just embroiled in a classic literary debate with Aria?

Maya also shared another clue: a shot of Ezra’s chalkboard. It features a quote from the 19th century novella The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde: “You start a question and it’s like starting a stone. You sit quietly on the top of a hill, and away the stone goes, starting others.”

Curiouser and curiouser. Taking the line out of its literary context, it’s a near perfect description of the Liars’ lives since Ali’s body was found and “A” started harassing them. This question of “Who is ‘A’?” has only led them deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole, with one question leading to countless others.

Within its literary context, the line has even more value. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was about a man with a split personality: one good, one evil. Could PLL be implying that Ezra has dissociative identity disorder (the psychiatric term for the condition)? Or, are they being less literal? And, are we seeing things here, or is that a contorted shadow of Ezra’s silhouette (complete with the black cap he was wearing in the summer finale) cast onto the blackboard? Spooky.

What do you think Ezra is up to in Episode 20? Do you think he has a split personality? Sound off in the comments below!
