One of the most deeply unsettling reveals of the Pretty Little Liars Season 4 summer finale was the confirmation that Alison (Sasha Pieterse) was, in fact, buried alive before Mrs. Grunwald pulled her from the ground. Who did the burying?! We’re going to find out.

“You will find out who buried Ali alive! Soon,” PLL showrunner Marlene King tweeted yesterday, piquing our interest. “Soon” is a bit of a vague descriptor for our liking, but considering there are only 13 episodes left in Season 4, we won’t have to wait forever!

Delightfully, if we had to take a guess, we’d say that the big reveal could likely come in the Halloween special. After all, the shot of Ali’s hand reaching from its grave was first seen in the Season 3 Halloween special. (We saw an extension of that scene, with someone grabbing that hand in the Season 3 finale.) It would be narratively symmetrical to learn more about who buried Ali in that grave in the first place in the Season 4 Halloween special.

It also could be logical considering the Liars are looking for Ali (and, as always, some answers) in the Halloween special. Both Mrs. G. and “A” seem to think that Ali will be attending the Ravenswood party and, if Red Coat’s last minute save of Emily’s life is anything to go by, we think she might be hanging around Ravenswood, too. Will the Liars finally get to confront their supposedly dead BFF and get the answers they (and us) so richly deserve?!

When do you think we’ll discover the identity of Ali’s grave digger? Who do you think it could have been? Sound off in the comments below!
