It’s not easy being “A” on Pretty Little Liars. Just ask Keegan Allen, whose character Toby was previously revealed to be on the “A” Team back in Season 3. Of course, Toby’s betrAyal was a fake-out, but Ezra’s reveAl, on the other hand, is still unclear. Is Ezra really the Big Bad behind it all? If so, Keegan has some advice for co-star Ian Harding (Ezra).

“Stay inside buddy,” Keegan told ET Online. “I suggested he avoid going in public for a while.”

It seems like good advice to us. Ezria fans are still reeling from the possibility that one half of their dream couple could be “A.” Would Ezra really do that to Aria? Or is Aria somehow involved in it all? We’re going to have to wait until Pretty Little Liars returns for its winter season to find out the answers to these burning questions. But Keegan did shed some light on what fans can expect this season.

“It's an exciting season,” Keegan said. “We have a very special episode I can't talk too much about [a black-and-white film noir episode] which is exciting because the writers have created so much freedom for themselves in this world that now they get to bring the fans into these classic literary realms in a really powerful way.”

The episode — Episode 19 (“Shadow Play”) — was written and directed by Joseph Dougherty. Wetpaint Entertainment recently caught up with the PLL scribe, and he filled us in on the groundbreaking episode. Spoby fans, get ready for an “intense” hour.

“Much of 4x19 is about the relationships, as they’ve been created over the last three or years, but everything is heightened and intensified,” he told us. “That means the emotions you’re used to will be intensified. There will be an intense attraction between [Spencer and Toby], but at the same time, these are two people who have kept secrets from each other, and that has had an affect on their personal trust level. There’s still things being worked out there, so there’s an intensity in the relationship that you’ll see between Spencer and Toby.”

Season 4B is shaping up to be an emotional one, PLL fans. Are you ready? Sound off in the comments!
