We haven’t seen Lucas Gottesman (Brendan Robinson) on Pretty Little Liars since Season 3, Episode 15: “Mona-Mania,” aka ages ago. We miss his sweet dedication our girl to Hanna and his bitter criticism of the high school social hierarchy. Basically, we want him back. Here are five reasons we think Lucas should return to PLL in Season 4B.

He’s a good friend

Sure, there were some instances with fire-setting and money-borrowing (and subsequently losing), but for the most part, Lucas has been a really good friend to Hanna, and, by extension, Caleb. This is the boy who drove Caleb back from California because he knew Hanna loved him. Despite being in love with Hanna himself. We think Hanna is really going to need some good friends to help her through Caleb’s departure to Ravenswood, and we think Lucas is an excellent person for that job.

He might know something

Remember that tense exchange between Ezra and Lucas in Season 3? Lucas is trying to get into the photo shop to which Aria has the keys. When she refuses to let him in, it looks like he might try to take them from her, until Ezra shows up and Lucas takes off. At the time, we thought Ezra was just upset because he was protective of Aria, but what if this was “A”-related? Lucas got out of there very quickly and, at this point, we trust him more than we do Ezra. Could Lucas know something about Ezra’s involvement in the “A” game? Might he help Hanna uncover the truth?

He has the best metaphors

“Icebergs turn over. Did you know that? They just roll over and bring up all of that buried junk. You don't want to get too close when that happens.” This little gem is from a Season 3 episode, and Lucas says it to Caleb about the “A” game… or something. To be honest, the whole thing is a little vague, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t dig Lucas’ nature-themed metaphor. Metaphor challenge, Lucas!  Next, try to equate the “A” game to a solar eclipse, a pod of humpback whales, or a weeping willow tree. Go!

We’re worried about him

In Season 3, Lucas leaves Rosewood High because he doesn’t think it’s safe for him there after being nearly run down by a truck (driven by Toby on orders from “A”). Even though the Liars have been through a lot, at least they have each others. We can’t help but worry about Lucas, who has embraced social isolation rather than deal with “A”’s bullying. Basically, we want to find out if he’s okay. If Mona can be made an honorary member of the “A” Team, why can’t they extend Lucas a membership?

He’s got mad skills

With Caleb departing for Ravenswood, the Liars are losing their best tech guy. We think Lucas might be able to fill that tech savvy void. He’s shown that he’s good with computers. (He managed to find and take down the photos of Hanna doing community service on the Internet.) And, he’s a whiz with a camera - at least he always has one on him. We think Lucas could be a seriously great ally for Team Liars - if they can trust him...
