The first half of the episode was more atmospheric than plot driven, with a whole lot of running around creepy Ravenswood, but not much else. However, after Hanna found herself separated from the other Liars things started to pick up.
The Liars found them trapped in the world's creepiest mansion. They kept hearing Ali's voice, but a person in a gas mask (presumably "A"), a recording of Ali's voice, Carla Grunwald, and even the house itself all tried to thwart them in finding their lost friend.
Then, just as the episode was nearing an end and it seemed like they were getting nowhere they found Ali! She's alive! For real! And she's Red Coat! OK, so she ran away again, but at least we have proof!
Meanwhile, we were introduced to Miranda, one of the main characters of Ravenswood, who found something really creepy: a gravestone with her name, and an image of someone who looked just like her. Oh, and Caleb found the same thing. Whoda thunk? Want to know more? Watch the Ravenswood premiere, duh!
Overall, we enjoyed this episode, though it does feel like not much happened. Also, while we like her, Miranda's plotline felt a bit shoed in.
That said, we're thrilled that Ali is actually alive. That's a twist we can really get behind. We give it 3.5 stars.
