We've come to expect the unexpected on Pretty Little Liars, but sometimes the show still manages to shock us, even if twists that would be huge on other shows are everyday occurrences in Rosewood. In light of the major curveballs that have been thrown our way in Season 4, we decided it was time to sit back and reflect on the five biggest twists in Pretty Little Liars history.

Read on for our picks, and then sound off in the comments with your own choices!

5. Toby is on the "A" team. The initial revelation of Toby's betrAyer status remains the most shocking moment on the show to date, but in the end this twist amounted to a whole lot of nothing, because it turned out Toby was still a good guy at heart.

4. Ian's dead... No he's not... Yes he is! Ian falling from the bell tower was one thing, but his then disappearing, then reappearing dead in the barn was a whole other level of O.M.G. Add to that the realization that his apparent suicide was anything but, and you've got the makings of a mystery that still haunts us seasons later. Who did rescue him in the belltown? Enquiring minds are waiting for the answer.

3. Mona answers to a higher power. Mona being "A" didn't make this list because it was too obvious: that's what had happened in the book series the show is based on, and it didn't fundamentally change anything. However, the revelation that Mona was answering to someone else — Red Coat — sent the show spinning off in a whole new direction.

2. Ali is alive. We saw this moment coming a season away, but that doesn't take away from how monumental this reveal is. It completely turns the basic premise of the show upside down, changing the way we look at, well, everything that came before.

1. Ezra is "A"? We'd seen the clues pointing in this direction, but we never thought the writers would actually go there. Taking the romantic lead of the show and turning him into the villain takes guts, and we really can't wait to see how it plays out.
