Beloved Pretty Little Liars couple Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) are facing a rare but very big obstacle to their relationship: Caleb has peaced out of Rosewood so he can be the star of Pretty Little Liars spin-off Ravenswood.

While the couple remains together at the moment, we have to fear for their future, especially if Ravenswood remains on air for a second season. After all, this wouldn't be the first time a spin-off has led to the demise of a beloved ship (Buffy/Angel fans know what we're talking about). While showrunner Marlene King has hinted that there's still hope for Hanna and Caleb in the long run, we're starting to think a breakup in the short term is not only likely, but perhaps even a good thing.

In last night's Ravenswood, Season 1, Episode 4: "The Devil Has a Face," Caleb spent a long time agonizing over an email to Hanna. He wanted to tell her he loved her and missed her, but he couldn't find a way to explain what has happened to him, probably because it's all so freaking crazy.

While our Haleb-lovin' hearts were touched by Caleb's devotion, we couldn't help but feel like those email scenes took us out of the show. Hanna and Caleb are awesome together, but as long as Caleb is part of Ravenswood, they're no longer part of the same world — which is bad for the characters and the audience.

Sure, Ravenswood is technically a spin-off of Pretty Little Liars, but because of all the supernatural elements, it feels very, very different. As characters, we can't see how Hanna and Caleb can really connect while Caleb is living this whole other life supernatural that he can't even figure out how to tell Hanna about. And as viewers, we can't really imagine Hanna and Caleb jumping back and forth between shows without it causing some major cognitive dissonance.

Of course, we hate saying this because we love Hanna and Caleb, and want them to end up together. But maybe they need to take a break for now. They can always reunite in the future.

What do you think: Should Hanna and Caleb break up because Caleb is on Ravenswood, or do you want to see them stay together anyway?
