“Where in the world is Mike Montgomery?” is a question many Pretty Little Liars fans are familiar with — after all, Aria’s little bro did go MIA in Season 3. But Mike Montgomery is back, and he’s moodier than ever in Season 4. (And here we thought Mike went away to anger management camp!)
Wetpaint Entertainment recently caught up with Mike’s portrayer Cody Christian in Los Angeles, and he filled us in on what we can expect from Mike when Season 4 returns for its winter season in January. “He kind of simmers down a little bit,” he said.
“The thing with Mike that I love is that he’s such an accurate portrayal of a teenager,” Cody told us. “He’s up, he’s down, he’s got his mood swings. It just kind of depends on what’s going on in his life. I think he’s going to stop taking it out on the people he loves the most. So that’s something we can look forward to.”
After their parents split in Season 1, Mike took a lot of his anger out on older sister Aria and mom Ella — and it wasn’t pretty (remember when he hurt Ella’s rist?). But Mike seems to have a turned over a new, more responsible leaf in Season 4. He’s trying to be a good brother to Aria, and just live his life as a lacrosse-playing high school student.
“It’s like with any other brother and sister relationship,” Cody said. “It’s going to improve, they’re going to have their fights and disagreements, their arguments, but at the end of the day they are brother and sister. They love each other, they’re there for each other, and I think we’re going to see that.”
He added: “I think everybody in the Montgomery family recognizes that so no matter what happens, no matter the resistance we’re always going to be there for each other.”
Case in point: Defending his sister’s honor by wrecking creeper Connor’s car in Season 4, Episode 6 (“Under the Gun”). Sure, it could have been “A” — aka Ezra — but we’d like to believe it was Mike. Of course, there’s always the possibility that Mike knows more about “A” than he’s willing to admit. After all, he suspiciously ends up becoming friends with “A” suspects (Noel Kahn in Season 1, and now, a potential romance with Mona).
Is it possible the “A” team is trying to recruit him? The PLL star insists that Mike “is in his own world right now.”
What do you think, PLL fans? Is Mike hiding something? Or is the “A” team trying to recruit him? Sound off in the comments!
