After watching the Pretty Little Liars winter premiere, it seems that Mona Vanderwaal (Janel Parrish) may be onto her super-villain replacement, aka Ezra Fitz (Ian Harding). Does she know that her English teacher is playing “A,” or is she just suspicious of everyone? Pretty Little Liars executive producer Joseph Dougherty weighed into E! Online on the subject.

It sounds like Mona’s suspicion level when it comes to Ezra is somewhere on the middle of the spectrum. According to Joseph, "I think Mona thinks they're both working for the same person, but of course that might be ego on her part," he said. "So again I'm not so sure she thinks she's working for him. Being a super genius and being an evil genius is rough, it takes a lot out of you."

So, Mona knows there’s something fishy about Mr. Fitz, but hasn’t quite guessed the extent of his complicity in the “A” game. We can see that making sense for now. But how long until Mona spots the signs that Ezra is hiding secrets from the student body, town, and most pressingly the Liars? And will it be before Aria, Spencer, Hanna, and Emily work it out for themselves? If not, we’d be interested to see how Mona plays it. Is she, as she has recently claimed, truly on the side of the Liars? Or is she just playing all sides (aka really on Team Mona)? As long as we get to watch more Ezra vs. Mona showdowns, we’re willing to let this storyline slowly and deliciously play out.

Do you think Mona will figure out “A”’s game before the Liars do? Do you really think she wants to help our girls? Sound off in the comments below!
