Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse) has been rather elusive since Pretty Little Liarsreturn. Even when she’s around, it’s hard to tell if she’s just a figment of one of the Liars’ imaginations. But, it looks like she’ll be back for real in next week’s episode Season 4, Episode 16 (“Close Encounters”). What did showrunner Marlene King have to say about Ali’s Episode 16 return?

“Next Tuesday...  It ain't no dream. Ali is back!!!!” Marlene tweeted, sending our anticipation meters into overdrive. Especially given that it seems like most if not all of Ali’s interaction will go down with Emily. The emotional tension between Em and dream-Ali (unless she was real?) in last night’s episode was one of our favorite parts of the whole night. As much as Emily would like to believe she’s completely over Ali, we’re not so sure that’s the case. And is it possible that Ali may actually have feelings for Emily, too? That it’s not just a game to her? We’ll have to wait and see.

According to the synopsis, “Shana returns to Ravenswood to tell Emily that she has a message from Ali.” Alison wants Emily to meet her alone, which is not only uber suspicious, but throw Em through a total emotional loop. The synopsis continues: “With Emily becoming more hopeful by the minute, Spencer is determined to not let her friend get hurt.” Judging from the hostile way we’ve seen Emily reacting to Spencer in this promo, we’re guessing Spence’s determination backfires.

Do you think Alison is using Emily’s feelings for her own gain, or do you think she has feelings for Em, too? Sound off in the comments below!
