The Canadians always impress us with their minimalist, stylized promos for Pretty Little Liars, which is why we’re not surprised that their trailer for this week’s noir-inspired episode is near perfect. We only get a few clips, but they’re doozies: how Spence’s world turns noir; Hanna and Spencer conspiring; and Alison giving her opinions on Aria’s love life.

At the beginning of the 30-second video, we get to see the moment Spencer’s world (and our episode) turns noir. While a sleepless, Adderall-fueled Spencer is washing something in her kitchen sink, she is mesmerized by a black-and-white film playing on the television. A filmic gunshot later, and her entire world has been turned noir!

“Why do they always turn on you?” Hanna (donning a fab fur coat) asks Spencer as they drive somewhere. We’re guessing by “they,” she’s referring to men. The Liars haven’t always had the best of luck with the men in their life, and apparently Hanna is playing the man-hater in this noir reality.

In other, more important news, it seems that Ezra is finally fessing up about at least some of his “A” knowledge. In an intimate scene with Aria, he leans over and whispers in her ear: “Alison’s alive.” Um, what? What’s his game? Why is he telling her this? Will he reveal his part in the “A” game or is this as far as his truth-telling goes?

In the next sequence, Spencer, Aria, and Alison whisper squabble:  “You can’t trust him,” Spencer tells Aria. Presumably, she is referring to Ezra. “Why?” Aria hisses back. Alison casts her judgment: “No guts.”

“I think I liked you better when you were dead,” Aria tells her. Burn. These Liars aren’t taking any lip from Alison anymore, are they? The reign of Queen Bee Alison may officially be over.

What do you think of the promo? Will Aria listen to Spencer’s advice or will she choose Ezra? Share your theories in the comments below!
