The night mean girl Alison DiLaurentis went missing on Pretty Little Liars, Spencer (Troian Bellisario) was also mysteriously missing from the Liars’ infamous sleepover. We now know that Ali wasn’t actually killed that night, but she was buried alive, only to escape with the help of Mrs. Grunwald. Was Spencer the one who pushed Alison into that grave?

Yes. She did it to keep her quiet.

The night of Ali’s disappearance, she and Spencer got into a fight. Alison was threatening to tell Melissa that Ian kissed Spencer the next day if Spence didn’t do it herself. Spencer agreed to, but did she come up with an alternate plan of action: get rid of Alison altogether? This theory might be a bit farfetched if not for all of the evidence stacked up against Spencer. Not only did she have opportunity and motive, but according to this Wetpaint exclusive with Troian, Spencer can’t remember what went down that night: “What happens to Spencer is that she thinks she’s the one who has to get [Alison] back because she was the one who pushed her away and didn’t help her that night. She still doesn’t remember what fully went on the night Ali disappeared. So Spencer really takes it on as her responsibility to be the detective and make it safe for Ali to come home.” Yikes! Sounds like it’s totally possible Spencer was the one who did the digging.

No. She was drugged.

On the other hand, this isn’t the first time PLL has pulled an “I can’t remember if I killed Alison” storyline. Jason DiLaurentis had a similar inner conflict. He was drunk the night Ali disappeared, he couldn’t remember his own actions. We don’t think Jason did anything to hurt his sister, and we don’t think Spencer did, either. They both loved Ali, no matter how terrible she could be at times. We do think there’s a chance that Spencer was drugged the way Emily was the night she dug up Ali’s grave. The Liars were drinking that night at the sleepover. Could someone have slipped something into Spence’s drink? If so, it would account for any missing time she might have of that night. Which leads us to other questions, like: Why would someone do that? And, could it have been one of the other Liars?

Do you think Spencer buried Alison alive? Why or why not? Sound off in the comments below!
