In the wake of the reveal that Spencer has a pill addiction on Pretty Little Liars, will the faith the other Liars have in their chief investigator be shaken? Do they still believe that Ezra is “A”? In this sneak peek for Season 4, Episode 20 (“Free Fall”), Hanna and Emily discuss the facts.

In the 30-second vid, Hanna and Emily are hanging in the Marin kitchen, discussing the latest developments in Liar drama: namely, that Aria still doesn’t know their suspicions that Ezra is “A” and that Spence’s deductions may be thrown into question by her addiction to Adderall.

“Spencer may have an addiction, but so does Aria,” Hanna points out. “Love is a drug, too. I mean, who says Ezra hasn’t put Aria in a… what do you call it?” “Altered state,” Emily offers.

“Yeah, exactly.” Ha! We love how insightful Hanna has been lately, part of her new interest in observation? And she seems to be firmly on Team Spanna. Now that she’s started investigating, she seems to appreciate all of the legwork Spence does, as well as the power of tangible  evidence.  She continues: “I mean, Aria kept her habit a secret, too. It’s a classic druggie move.”

“So what are you saying?” Emily asks. “You still think that Ezra’s ‘A’?” It seems Em has some doubts about Ezra’s guilt. We don’t want to believe it either, Em. But, as Hanna points out, the facts speak for themselves. “There’s just too much evidence against him,” says Hanna. “We found the book of our relations in his desk.”

Emily’s not ready to cede the argument: “Yeah, but what if that was a plant from the real ‘A’ trying to make Fitz look guilty?” A valid question, though not one whose answer would quell all of our doubts about Ezra. We’ve seen way too much shady behavior at this point (include his trying to steal the diary from Hanna’s room) to agree with a stab-in-the-dark explanation like that.
