If you’re anything like us, you’re still recovering from last night’s Pretty Little Liars, and the heartbreaking scene between Ezra and Aria. You’re also looking for answers on whether or not the feelings Ezra (Ian Harding) claims to have for Aria (Lucy Hale) were ever real. Executive producer Oliver Goldstick spoke to E! Online on the subject.

“Yes, I think they were real,” Oliver said. “We always thought that because it's just so much more interesting. If he was just an opportunist or a Machiavellian, it would really not be that interesting for the character, or for us to write. But if he is somebody who has ambition, and then somehow this poor person that he loves now has been crushed under the wheels of it, that's very different.”

So Ezra does love Aria, but that didn’t keep him from keeping the truth about his past with Alison and his move to Rosewood from her. We have to admit, though: Ezra’s tale is pretty tragic. He originally approached Aria because of her connection to Alison, only to fall for her. But, the further he fell, the more afraid he was to tell her the truth. Hoisted by his own petard!

Of course, that doesn’t dispel the general ickiness we feel over the fact that Ezra has apparently been in relationships with not one, but two teenage girls. Or that he knew how old Aria was when they first hooked up in that Hollis bar. Just some things to think about.

Do you think Ezra’s feelings for Aria are genuine? Are you creeped out by his pattern of dating teenage girls? Sound off in the comments below!
