The Supernatural spin-off is really picking up steam. The show has just cast Pretty Little LiarsSean Faris (Officer Gabe Holbrook) for the backdoor pilot that will hopefully launch Supernatural: Tribes, a proposed spin-off following the various mafia-esque monster families who run the seedy underbelly of Chicago. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sean will be playing Julian Durant, the hunky werewolf son of a wealthy lycanthrope family. What does this mean for Officer Holbrook?

It’s hard to say how the proposed spin-off would affect Pretty Little Liars given that there are a lot of assumptions inherent in its potential effect. Firstly, we’re assuming that Officer Holbrook will survive the season. Cops don’t have the best luck on this show — if he meets an untimely fate, he would be the third to be murdered. And, even if his character doesn’t kick the bucket, there are a myriad of reasons why he would leave town. Might he solve the Wilden murder he came to town to uncover? Because we would totally be for some answers about that.

Another assumption in this scenario is that Supernatural: Tribes will be picked up by the CW. And, if it is picked up, it will survive as a successful show. The number of television pilots that make it onto a network is fractionally small and, though this one has a serious head start with its successful source material, that doesn’t guarantee it will make it.

If Officer Holbrook does make it to Season 5 and Supernatural: Tribes does get picked up as a show, there’s still a chance Sean could continue his run on Pretty Little Liars. Many of the recurring characters we know and love on PLL also star on other shows. Vanessa Ray (CeCe Drake) is a recurring character on CBS’ Blue Bloods. Drew Van Acker (Jason DiLaurentis) has found success as a main cast member on Lifetime’s Devious Maids. They might not come to Rosewood often, but there characters are still very much a part of the framework of the show.

Whatever happens with Holbrook, we’re excited to see Sean in a new role. You can catch the backdoor pilot of Supernatural: Tribes as the April 29 episode of Supernatural. Good luck, Sean!
