Luke Matheson, we hardly knew you. Brett Dier has booked his first role since the untimely cancellation of ABC Family’s Ravenswood, and we have to admit: it sounds pretty interesting!

Deadline reports that the former Ravenswood star has joined the CW’s new pilot, Jane the Virgin, which means we’ll be seeing plenty of shirtless Brett on our TV screens. Brett will play Michael, a cop and protagonist Jane’s (Gina Rodriguez) “steadfast boyfriend who has secrets of his own.” So it looks like the 24-year-old is finally ready to put his high school days behind him.

Jane the Virgin follows Jane, a “hardworking religious girl who, due to a series of outrageous events, is accidentally artificially inseminated.” Um, what? We have a hard time seeing how that could happen, but then again, this is the CW — and stranger things have happened. Israeli actress Yael Grobglas will play Monica, who is “left reeling when her husband’s sperm is used to inseminate the wrong girl.” Now that’s awkward. This show sound too crazy not to be on TV! Hopefully, this pilot gets picked up by the network so we can see Brett back on our screens — we were beginning to miss his humor and studly good looks.

It's been a good week for the former Ravenswood crew. ABC Family recently announced that series star Tyler Blackburn will return to Pretty Little Liars for Season 5
