Ezra may not be “A” on Pretty Little Liars, but he’s not out of the dog house yet. The former charmer-turned-creeper came clean to Aria about his true motivations — he was writing a true crime novel about Ali — and he’s struggled to get back into Aria’s good graces ever since. We can’t blame Aria for being mad. After all, he had been spying on her and her friends for years. So can Ezra ever be redeemed?

“It’s real shaky,” Ian Harding told Wetpaint Entertainment at the 2014 Pretty Little Liars PaleyFest panel on Sunday in Los Angeles. “I think he will be redeemed in some sense just because he is a good person, but he just was so obsessed with this idea of getting the truth out about Alison and this whole weird thing. I think he has an idea of how it’s connected to bigger things in Rosewood — I think that’s one of the things that drew him. But yeah, I think it’s gonna take a lot. A lot of roses — a lot of flowers.”

Aria may be a hopeless romantic, but something tells us it’s going to take a whole lot more than roses to get her to forgive Ezra. In fact, the last time she saw him, she told him to leave Rosewood — for good. But there is something that could change Aria’s mind. We’ve speculated that Ezra might be the one who winds up in the hospital “in serious danger” in the Season 4 finale. Perhaps he risks his life to save the Liars? Whatever the case may be, Ian is just happy he doesn’t have to play the bad guy anymore.

“[If Ezra was ‘A’] then the show would be done. So, like, no. I was hoping, ‘No, no! Oh, yes — OK, we’re in the clear.’ I was hoping that he would know just enough,” Ian told us. “And now, is he gonna start helping the girls? Or do they trust him at all? So that’s what I was kinda hoping for.”

The possibility of Ezra teaming up with the Liars in Season 5 is interesting, especially with Ali back in the mix. As much as we want to see Ezria reunite, we’d rather see Ezra confront Ali about her lies. Now that’s a scene we want to see. Plus, it sounds like we’re one step closer to a Ezra/Caleb/Toby bromance, which is what we really want to see when Pretty Little Liars returns for its fifth season.
