The Season 4 finale of Pretty Little Liars might have been devastating for our Liars as they watched Ezra get shot by “A,”  but they were total rock stars in the ratings. Just how well did Pretty Little Liars do with Tuesday night’s episode?

According to the Nielsen ratings, Season 4, Episode 24 (“A is For Answers”) averaged a 1.3 rating/4 share in the much-coveted “adults, 18-49” demographic. The episode pulled in a total of 3.12 million viewers overall, though that’s sure to soar once full-week DVR numbers are added.

While this is all impressive, perhaps even more impressive is the fact that Pretty Little Liars solidified its position as most social show ever, with nearly 1.5 million tweets from nearly 411,000 unique users, peaking at a rate of 37,000 tweet per minute. Wow. This set the record for most tweeted-about episode of television thus far in 2014, and the fourth most tweeted about series telecast in the recorded history of tweeted-about television! Pretty Little Liars now holds the top six positions on that list. Take a moment to let that sink in.

Back to the old-fashioned viewer ratings, Pretty Little Liars was the most-watched cable TV telecast at its time for the “female, 12-34” demographic — an honor its held consecutively since its pilot episode in 2010. It also held the top position for “adults, 18-34,” “women, 18-34,” “women, 19-49,” and “viewers, 12-34.” It was third overall in cable TV viewers. Keep up the good work, Pretty Little Liars fans!
