Now that Alison (Sasha Pieterse) is back in Rosewood, things are going to start getting complicated on Pretty Little Liars. What? You thought they were complicated already? Well, that was before we found out Ezra used to date Ali. And before Lucy Hale (Aria) agreed that a catfight between she and Ali might be in order.

“Oh that’s right because [Ali and Ezra] used to date!” Lucy told Hollywood Life of the potential awkwardness.“That’s why I’m excited about Season 5 because I know absolutely nothing about what we’re going to shoot, but now that Alison is back in the picture, who knows? Anything is possible. I’d be down for a little love triangle — a little cat fight between Aria and Alison.”

If Aria and Ali don’t get into a catfight, then it may be Hanna (Ashley Benson) who unleashes her claws. Word on the street is that, when Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) returns to Rosewood in Season 5, Episode 5, he will share “chemistry” with Alison. Marlene King even hinted at a possible love triangle. To us, this means that Ezria is safe (well, aside from the super complicated obstacles they already face, like Ezra’s massive deception), but Haleb might be set to angst.

To be honest, we hope Season 5 keeps catfights to a minimum. One of the things we like best about this show is how much these girls value their friendships with one another even more than they value their relationships. It’s a bit of an annoying TV cliche for women to get into catfights over the men in their lives. We’re not saying there won’t be drama involving Ali and her return to Rosewood (and that some of it might involve one of the Liars’ significant others), we just hope it feels natural and earned and that the Liars’ own love for Ali is taken into account. Given what we’ve seen of this show so far, we’re not too worried.
