Paily has a rough road ahead of them come Season 5 of Pretty Little Liars. With Emily (Shay Mitchell) still smarting from Paige’s (Lindsey Shaw) betrayal, Ali back in town, and now a new love interest on Em’s radar. Do these two stand a chance?

If you thought all Paily fans have to worry about in Season 5 was a possible Emison reunion, then you’re not thinking big enough. According to E! Online, there will be a new girl on the Rosewood swim team named Sydney, and she is not only friendly but a total babe. What does this mean for Paily? Well, according to Shay, Paily fans should brace for impact.

"For the Paige and Emily fans, I would say to hold tight,” Shay divulged. “Nothing's ever said and done. And I will say to the Emison fans, you never know what could happen again. So stay tuned."

Sounds like things might be getting worse before (and if) they get better. But, if anyone can pull through this, it’s Paily. Not to mention that Paige has an ally in the writer’s room. Writer Joseph Dougherty spoke to Alloy Entertainment about Season 5 Paily, mentioning that he thinks Paige did the right thing in tipping the cops off to Ali’s continued existence...

“I sort of inherited Emily and Paige and I feel like I’m shepherding them through their relationship,” Joseph said. “I think it comes down to this: one of the reasons Emily is not the same person that she was when Alison left is because of her relationship with Paige. But, none of these dynamics are the same anymore. I think Paige is threatened. She’s taken actions which in the writer’s room, I agree with, and everyone thinks that I’m cranking.”

Of course, at the end of the day, it only really matters if Emily can forgive Paige for her actions.

Do you think Paige did the right thing in tipping off the cops? Do you think she and Emily still have a chance at being happy together? And what do you make of new girl Sydney? Sound off in the comments below!
