Sometimes, it’s hard keeping the characters on Pretty Little Liars straight, especially when they’ve only recently been introduced. But we have a feeling we won’t have a problem remembering the newest co-star in Shay Mitchell’s (Emily) life...

“I am working with the cutest actor today... Meet Casey! #PLL,” Shay tweeted, along with a  photo of adorable dog. This is one new character we can totally get behind — if only because we’re almost positive he’s not “A.” Right?

Casey isn’t the only new face on the Season 5 set. Pretty Little Liars just cast Chloe Bridges as new girl Sydney Driscoll. Sydney is a beautiful new member of the Rosewood swim team who becomes friendly with Emily — we’re not yet sure if that is a euphemism for something. With the craziness that is Emily’s relationship with both Paige and Ali, we wouldn’t blame Emily for seeking a less-complicated relationship. At least for now. So, might Casey be playing Sydney’s dog? Maybe these two new “characters” are related. If so, it seems that Em is already spending time with new girl Syd. (We can call her Syd, right?)

In addition to the new characters hanging in Rosewood, Season 5 will also introduce some long-neglected characters back into the fold. Lucas Gottesman (Brendan Robinson) will be trading in his home-schooling existence for a life of danger at Rosewood High. Noel Kahn (Brant Daugherty) will be back, and hopefully answering some questions about why he has been helping Ali. And, speaking of Ali, Mr. DiLaurentis is set to trudge back to town in the wake of his ex-wife’s death. Someone’s gotta look after the back-from-the-dead teenager, right? Don’t worry -- we’ve put together a handyReturning Character Guide to help keep the faces and their agendas straight.

Whose dog do you think Casey is playing? What other animals should PLL introduce to their show? Sound off in the comments below!
