ABC Family has just released the Season 5 promo poster for Pretty Little Liars, and it is totally creepy, and may give us some hints on what to expect from the upcoming season. Check it out!

The poster is sans Liars this year. In their places, are five masks of their faces. Ali’s (Sasha Pieterse) is starting to crack. Is this supposed to imply that someone is attacking the recently-returned Liar? From the looks of this Season 5 promo (and, you know, everything that has come before on this show), it certainly seems like Ali is a target. Or might the cracked mask refer to Ali’s inability to keep secrets any longer? The mask is cracking, which means she will soon have to take off the pretence and reveal her true self to enemies and friends alike. Either way, that mask isn’t going to last much longer.

We can’t see masks without thinking of eccentric maskmaker Hector Prime. The Liars followed Melissa to the man’s shop near the beginning of Season 4, only to discover that the maskmaker had made masks of both Melissa and Ali’s faces. (And, in repayment for what he knew about Ali, now Emily’s face, too.) Will he come back into play in Season 5? It certainly seems a possibility given both the promo poster and Melissa’s seeming connection to the maskmaker. We’re still dying to know what she told her father about the murder of the girl in Ali’s grave, and writer Joseph Dougherty promises we will find out in Season 5. Might the masks play into this reveal? At this point, nothing would surprise us.

What do you think of the promo poster? What do you think the masks mean? Sound off in the comments below!
