A is for audience — a pretty big one, too.

While Pretty Little Liars didn’t reach quite as many viewers on Tuesday night as it did for its cliffhanger Season 4 finale, Season 5 definitely came in with a bang  — and we’re not just talking about that shot fired at the Fitzgerald Theater.  In fact, Season 5 Episode 1: “EscApe From New York” was the Number 1 scripted cable show among the key demographic of women 18-34.

We guess a lot of people wanted to find out what happened to Ezra (Ian Harding) — ourselves included, obviously — and plenty of Liars lovers wanted to talk about it, too. The premiere marked the fourth time in a row that a PLL premiere racked up more than a million tweets, earning the No. 4 spot among the most tweeted TV series episodes of all time. (FYI, the Summer 2013 finale, “A is for Answers” still holds the top slot on the list.)

In fact, PLL now accounts for half of the top 20 most tweeted TV episodes ever, including 3 of the top 5. We can see why ABC Family was so eager to renew the series for another two seasons!
