Ezra (Ian Harding) may not have been in the most recent episode of Pretty Little Liars, but that doesn’t mean Aria (Lucy Hale) wasn’t thinking about him and what their relationship might look like when Ezra returns to Rosewood — you know, in between her freak out sessions. Frankly, we’re kind of curious about that, too. Luckily, Pretty Little Liars showrunner Marlene King talked to E! Online on that very subject.

“We know that Ezra and Aria are soul mates, whether they are romantically entwined or not, those two are, somehow, always thrown into situations together,” Marlene said, making quite a statement about where these two crazy kids are heading. Marlene may be playing the platonic soul mate card, but we’re not sure such a thing exists on TV (unfortunately), which means we still believe romantic Ezria is endgame.

As for how Ezra will handle the lies Ali and her band of merry Liars have been throwing about since their return, Marlene said: “[Ezra’s relationship with the Liars] plays out very organically. He does return to Rosewood, and Ezra knows something that nobody else knows when the girls come back and that's that they were in New York, they weren't in Philadelphia. They're going to have to find their story and they need Ezra to collaborate with that story, so he becomes very organically involved in their lives again.” Sounds like Ezra is about to be swept up into this ever-tangly web of lies, too. Hey, at least it will give him something for him and Aria to talk about.

Do you think Ezra and Aria will end up together? How will Ezra handle the Liars’ lies? Sound off in the comments below!
