If this season’s Pretty Little Liars Christmas episode is anything like the Halloween episode it’s replacing, it will feature some game-changing twists. What might they be? Well, Pretty Little Liars executive producer Marlene King just dropped a major clue on Twitter. Who is the “newborn queen” she speaks of?

“Hark the herald angels sing. Glory to the newborn queen.  #MajorPllHolidayClue,” Marlene tweeted Saturday, awesomely using the lyrics from “Hark The Herald Angels Sing” to imply that a new Queen Bee will be rising in Rosewood. Who might she be? In this town, anything’s possible. For example, this could refer to Ali’s second rise to the top. Sure, things aren’t looking so great right now for the former mean girl, but we never count this girl out — and it’s a long time until Christmas. Other options we like include Mona, Sydney, or even one of the Liars.

Of course, we may be focusing on the wrong word here. Is Marlene being literal in her use of the term “newborn.” No, we don’t think Pretty Little Liars is adding a baby mastermind character to the mix, but we do think there will be flashbacks in this episode. Last week,Marlene tweeted that she was glad to have Andrea Parker (Mrs. DiLaurentis) back on the set. Given that Mrs. D. is currently dead, we assume this will have to happen in flashback form. Could the Christmas episode flashback to Ali’s birth? Might we finally learn once and for all if Ali has a twin or not?

What do you think Marlene’s clue means? Share your theories in the comments below!
