If we didn’t already assume someone would bite it in the Pretty Little Liars summer finale, then the #fAtalfinale hashtag that flashed up in the promo for Season 5, Episode 10 certainly would have put us at red alert. With only two episodes left until the summer finale, one character is nearing his or her end. Who’s the next victim on “A’s” hitlist? We speculate below.

Alison (Sasha Pieterse) has already died once. Who’s to say she won’t do it again? In many ways, this summer season has been the Summer of Ali. It would be somewhat fitting to have her death mark its close. It also makes narrative sense, given that “A” is still out to get Alison. Though “A” currently seems set on keeping Ali alive for some other, mysterious punishment, how long will that particular preference last? How long until someone tries to strangle Alison again — and succeeds? As powerful as Ali’s second-death would be, we’d be said to see the mean girl go. She’s instilled a new sense of narrative consequence into PLL. We could watch another half-season of the Liars second-guessing her loyalties.

Noel Kahn (Brant Daugherty) is another character seemingly living on borrowed time. In last night’s episode, he admitted to Spencer that he was in Toby’s house moments before it exploded. Was he the intended target? What secret is he hiding that allows Alison to manipulate him? We’d hate to see the teenage toolbag leave the show, but we’re worried about any and all characters who show up in town just in time for a finale. Has Noel’s luck finally run out?

Continuing on our list of Characters With Many Lives, Jenna (Tammin Sursok) is another Rosewood resident who has escaped death multiple times — most notably in “The Jenna Thing” in Season 1 flashbacks and her near-drowning at Emily’s surprise birthday party last season. Could Jenna have been the target of the house explosion in the summer premiere? Does she know something about “A” and the night of Ali’s disappearance that makes her a target?

Melissa Hastings (Torrey DeVitto) has always known more than she’s let on, and we’ve been waiting for five seasons to see her lies and secrets catch up with her. Out of the original N.A.T. Club, Melissa and Jason are the only ones left standing. If her N.A.T. Club membership doesn’t get her killed, then maybe her knowledge of what happened to Mrs. DiLaurentis and Bethany Young will. This would be truly tragic, as it would mean no more Hastings siblings banter sessions. Where ever will we get our historical metaphor fix?
