It sounds like the division starting to build between Alison (Sasha Pieterse) and the Liars is only just beginning. The synopsis for the Pretty Little Liars Season 5 midseason finale has Alison building her own army “now that the PLLs have turned their back on her.” Yikes! What else is going down in the climactic summer season-ender? Read on to find out!

An unlikely ally. With the Liars “feeling trapped” by Ali and “A”, they “turn to an unlikely person for help.” This sounds super promising. We hope their new ally is Noel Kahn, Mona, or Jenna. Spencer seemed to lay the groundwork for a tenuous alliance with Noel in the last episode when she refused to give the Ali Insurance back to him, but mentioned that she would keep it safe. From the looks of these promo photos, however, it looks like Mona may by the “unlikely” ally in question.

To the grave. The episode’s title is “Taking This One To The Grave.” Ominous, right? This is not only a reference to the show’s killer title sequence song by The Pierces, but supports the description of a “#fAtalfinale”. Sounds like someone will be keeping a secret forever starting in the summer finale.

A dangerous path. Alison will be leading the Liars “down a dangerous path” in the mid-season finale. Like, more than usual? Because Ali’s plans are usually, like, 50 percent likely to end in death or major injury.

The Liars can’t go to the police. It sounds like the Liars would go to the Rosewood P.D. if they could, but “A” is “barring them from telling the police the truth.” What is she threatening them with this time? Is it still the NYC/Shana thing, or has “A” upped her game to all-out threats against their lives?

Ali’s army. Taking a page from Mona’s playbook (seemingly the theme of the season), Ali “begins to build up her own army now that the PLLs have turned their back on her.” Who exactly would join Ali’s army? She doesn’t seem to have a lot of friends right now.
