Holy Vanderjesus, that was an action-packed summer finale! Now we have a few months to ponder the central mysteries Pretty Little Liars left us with — and mourn the loss of one Mona Vanderwaal. Here are the 10 most burning questions we have from Season 5, Episode 12 (“Taking This One to the Grave”).

Is Alison “A”? The summer finale put a lot of work in trying to convince us that Alison is “A”, but we’re not so sure. She didn’t say anything that implicated the Liars during her polygraph to the police, implying that she is still trying to protect them. Then again, maybe she’s just trying to protect herself?

Was Bethany Jason’s twin? We now know that Mrs. DiLaurentis had an affair with Bethany’s father, which is why Mrs. D. and Bethany spent some time together. More information, please. Was this a recent affair, or did it go down in the past… with Mr. Hastings? We’re pretty sure this means Bethany Young is Jason’s twin. Right?

Is Bethany dead? Though we’re unfortunately seen Mona’s dead body, we still don’t know for sure if Bethany Young is dead. Sure, the police identified her body, but the Rosewood P.D. isn’t exactly the bastion of authority it seems to think it is. We think there’s a good chance Bethany is still alive — either as “A” or as the Alison we have come to know and love.

Who has a twin, dammit? Speaking of which, can we just figure this one out, please? Someone has to have a twin on this show, right? (And we’re not talking about Cindy and Mindy.) Tammin Sursok (aka Jenna) confirmed this on an Australian talk show, but who might it be? Alison? Jason? Spencer? Tell us!

Why did Alison lure Bethany to Rosewood? Mona told Aria that she found evidence that Ali lured Bethany to Rosewood because she was jealous of the girl. What purpose did Ali have in bringing Bethany into town? Did she intend to kill her? Or did she just want to talk? And how did they end up wearing the same exact outfit?

Who else knew about Bethany? Though we’re still not sure just how connected Bethany is to the Hastings and DiLaurentis families, we’re guessing other people have to know about her unique relationship to the neighborhood. Mrs. Hastings hinted to Spencer that Mr. Hastings has been keeping secrets forever. Both Melissa and Jason seem to know more than they tell Spencer. Ali obviously knows. Was Spencer the only family member in the dark?

Will the charges against Spencer stick? The Rosewood P.D. seems pretty convinced that Spencer was the one who murdered Bethany Young. Do they have enough evidence to convict her? Furthermore, will Mona’s murder cast some doubt on Spencer’s involvement in all of this? After all, she was being processed when the whole thing went down. Silver lining?

Where will the Liars go to college? We’re so happy to see that college is finally a thing on this show, if only because it will better ground this show in reality, and potentially bring some awesome dramatic tension in the upcoming half-season. Where will the Liars end up? Will Spencer even get into college? And what will college mean for the Liars and their bed buddies?

What is Ali planning with her army? As we’re of the school that Alison is not “A”, we have some big questions about her army. Why were they gathering at that abandoned farm? And how did Alison get them to come over to her side so quickly?

Who killed Mona? Onto the most important question of all! It could also be phrased as “Who is ‘A’?” because the killer and the villain seem to be one-in-the-same, if that doll switcheroo was anything to go by. We have a feeling that trying to discover the identity of Mona’s killer will be the driving force in the upcoming half-season. And we’re all for it: we want justice for Mona Vanderwaal.
