One of the strangest scenes in last night’s Pretty Little Liars (Season 2, Episode 19: “The Naked Truth”) took place in the Rosewood High music room during the “Truth Up” Day. Aria (Lucy Hale) goes looking for Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) to tell him to stop hacking Hanna’s (Ashley Benson) phone, and runs into fearsome twosome Noel (Brant Daugherty) and Jenna (Tammin Sursok) instead.
The creepiness started, however, with a flashlight shining on a white board filled with anonymous confessions. We assume this was part of a Truth Up Day activity, where the students were encouraged to get everything out in the open. But the scene went by so fast, we couldn’t see everything. Now we have, and we’re sharing with you what was written on the board:
I'm still a virgin
My parents are illiterate
I hate my life
I've never been kissed
I'm afraid of my dad
I know who killed Alison DiLaurentis
Those are pretty heavy admissions for high school students to be talking about, anonymous or not. Jenna and Noel, for some reason, are standing there in the dark looking at the board — odd, since Jenna obviously cannot see it.
The most telling sentence, of course, is that someone at Rosewood High (or who was there during the lock-in) knows who Alison’s murderer is. Since we know “A” was at the lock-in too, could we go back to the theory that “A” and Alison’s murderer are the same person? They would have to be involved with the N.A.T. club if so (since Jenna and Garrett are directly linked to framing the Little Liars for her murder, and are responsible for the missing autopsy page), meaning Jason and Noel are prime suspects.
None of these phrases are particularly familiar to us, except perhaps for “I’m afraid of my dad,” which could apply to Jason (Drew Van Acker). But he was just an advisor for the lock-in, not a student. And he certainly doesn’t seem afraid of Mr. Hastings.
What may be a hidden clue, is the phrase right above Alison’s name on the board. It appears to be “I can’t swim.” Well, swimming is Emily’s (Shay Mitchell) sport, and thanks to Mona (Janel Parrish) and her nerdy past, Emily is back on the team. We know we’ll see her at the meet, along with Maya (Bianca Lawson) cheering her on, in Season 2, Episode 20: “CTRL: A.” Is it possible that we’re in for a drowning? Of whomever can’t swim?
