It’s almost time for the Pretty Little Liars Season 2, Episode 25: “UnmAsked,” aka the day we finally get to find out who “A” is on the show. We couldn’t be more excited, but we are also wondering how all of this “A” business will affect our favorite couples on the show.

Wetpaint Entertainment spoke to showrunner Marlene King in an exclusive interview about dealing with shippers, the reaction to the Ezria sex scene, and what’s in store for the core couples in the finale.

Wetpaint Entertainment: On a completely separate topic, what's been the reaction between Aria and Ezra having their first time on screen?

Marlene: As far as I've seen, it's been all positive. I haven't seen one negative tweet or Facebook posting about it. So people seem to be happy that they're not just eating take-out food in Ezra's apartment.

Why did you feel it was necessary to do it at this point in time?

It just felt like, again, that this couple was doing a lot of eating in Ezra’s apartment, and it was time to say, this is a mature relationship with two mature people in it. And this is what mature people sometimes do.

Do we have time to explore any of the relationships in the finale, or is it too packed?

No. What I'm really proud of regarding the finale is that it’s definitely mystery heavy, but at the same time we found that balance to do what I really love about Pretty Little Liars is also have some great relationships, Spoby moments in that way. Every couple is serviced in the finale. Every couple gets a moment to show us where they are in their relationship and possibly change their relationship. And there's some definitely big relationship reveals in the finale.

Is there hope for Spoby?

There's always hope for Spoby.  I love Spoby.

More so than Spencer and Wren?

No. I love them all. But Spoby has always felt like a special place in my heart because I just loved the connection they had over that Scrabble game. It's always at the forefront to me of my mind when I wrote those scenes. It was like such a fun thing to throw these two characters together, and say, is this going to work or not?  And it just worked so beautifully.

What about Hanna and Caleb because they seem to have had a smooth relationship as of late?

They have had a smooth ride.  I was just talking about that with someone. Those two have gotten off easy this year. So they'd better beware. Be warned. We have not given them too much trouble.

What about the shippers. Do you care what fans love?  Do you listen to whether they love Wren or Toby?

Sure, absolutely. Look the shippers are a huge part of the success of the show. They're passionate about their characters and their couples. Sometimes I think they don't understand that good drama doesn't always have a happy ending, and that's tough I think for the shippers. But they are the most passionate fans that we could hope for. The shippers are our friends.

Was there anything you've been surprised about, fan reaction wise? Like an obsession that you just didn't see coming?

Well, when Aria first kissed Jason. I think that was in Season 2. Lucy and I were together that night on set, and we did not in any way expect that storm, that shipper storm to hit us in the way that it did. So that was sort of the unexpected. This is how the shippers are invested in this couple and this show.
