Out of the four Little Liars, many of you think that Aria (Lucy Hale) is the most suspicious. But we think there’s a case to be made for Emily (Shay Mitchell) being on the “A” team. We know that all four Liars are on the official ABC Family Pretty Little Liars betrAyer list, and based on a series of recent clues, it’s looking more and more possible that Emily could betray her friends in the Season 3 summer finale (Season 3, Episode 12: “The Lady Killer”).
Here are a few reasons why she’s looking so suspicious.
Summer finale photos. In these sneak peek photos from the finale (airing August 28), Emily quite literally has blood on her hands. The other Liars look horrified, and Emily is the only one inside the yellow crime scene tape.
She will defy Spencer. We know from this spoiler that in Season 3, Episode 11: “Single Fright Female”, Spencer will try to warn Emily about Paige’s (Lindsey Shaw) violent past, and her complicated history with Alison (Sasha Pieterse). But Emily will react stubbornly, refusing to believe that Paige is all bad. This will cause a rift in their friendship, which could definitely spur a betrayal.
Recon mission. A popular theory surrounding Maya’s (Bianca Lawson) death is that someone killed her because she found out something she shouldn’t have. If Maya was killed to keep quiet, Emily may have made it her mission to find out what Maya knew. She could have done this by retracing Maya’s steps, based on the visual clues on Maya’s website. Getting inside the “A” team may involve small betrayals on her part, because she would need to keep her mission secret from the Liars.
Paige could have lured her to the dark side. We know how violent Paige is, but we also know how caring and compassionate Emily is. In an effort to trust someone new, Emily could have been lured by Paige to do things the Liars wouldn’t approve of. Whether Emily went along with it because she just wanted to gather information or because she wanted things with Paige to work out, we can’t say.
Emily kissed Nate! Not only did Emily make out with Nate, but she didn’t even tell her friends or Paige about it the next day. This could be sign that Emily isn’t really trustworthy this season.
She was MIA in the beginning of Season 3. For the first few episodes of Season 3, Emily was incredibly preoccupied by catching up on all the schoolwork she missed (after Maya’s death), retaking tests, and studying. This meant that she wasn’t involved in a lot of the Liars’ activities. Could she have been secretly plotting with the “A” team during the time she was MIA?
What do you guys think? Could good girl Emily really have turned bad? Or is there no way she's involved with the "A" team?
