Pretty Little Liars Betrayal: Why Paige Could Be on the “A” Team
The evidence keeps piling up against Paige (Lindsey Shaw) on Pretty Little Liars. With the news that someone close to the Liars will wind up betraying them, plus these spoiler pics of Paige from the Season 3 summer finale (Season 3, Episode 12: “The Lady Killer,” airing August 28), how likely is it that Paige is on the “A” Team?

We came up with a few reasons why Paige could be the betrAyer.
Her violent past. We know that in Season 3, Episode 11: “Single Fright Female,” airing August 21, Spencer (Troian Bellisario) will find out about Paige’s “violent past.” If this new “A” team is one thing, it’s violent. They’ve already drugged Emily (Shay Mitchell), dug up and robbed a grave, and most likely murdered Maya (Bianca Lawson). Paige’s violent history may be a major sign that she’s on the “A” team.
Her history with Alison. In the same episode, Spencer will uncover “new information about a blood feud between Alison [Sasha Pieterse] and Paige right before Alison disappeared.” We learned from Mona (Janel Parrish), aka the first “A,” that anyone on her team is pretty anti-Ali. So if Paige has an old resentment towards Alison, it would be easy to recruit her to join the “A” team, and therefore, to betray Alison’s friends.
Emily will be warned. Just before the summer finale, Spencer will try to warn Emily about Paige’s crazy past and her violent tendencies. But “Emily is not ready to heed her friend’s warnings.” This sounds an awful lot like Hanna’s (Ashley Benson) resistance to believing her BFF Mona could ever be evil.
The spoiler photos. We know that Maya’s murderer will be unveiled in the summer finale, and these photos show Emily and Paige at a crime scene. Emily has blood on her hands, while Paige just looks spaced out, as if she’s in shock. If Paige did wind up being the betrayer, and Emily found out, who knows what Em would be capable of doing? We know she’s “tough” and wants her revenge. Could she have attacked Paige for betraying her?
Paige likes to party. We understand that the only reason Paige got so embarrassingly wasted at Jenna’s (Tammin Sursok) birthday party was because Emily’s flask was laced with that memory-erasing drug. But Paige did take the flask from Emily and bring it with her to the party, which means the girl likes to drink. If she likes to party, then chances are she’s been to a few of the roving Kahn brothers’ parties. And we know who hangs out at those: “A” team suspects Jenna, Noel (Brant Daugherty), and CeCe.
She’s one of the only people in Rosewood who actually has a provable motive. Why would anyone kill Maya? True, it’s possible that she saw something (like the NAT club’s videos) that someone would kill to protect, but none of that has been proven yet. What we do know for a fact is that Paige has been in love with Emily for a long, long time. As the detectives on Law & Order used to say, murders almost always involve sex or money. Paige could have committed an old-fashioned crime of passion.
