Pretty Little Liars is full of mischievous characters and, well, lies, so it’s always hard to decide which Rosewood resident to trust. Unless, of course, they’re wearing a black hoodie, in which case we generally put them on the do-not-trust list. However, Lucas (Brendan Robinson) is an odd case. He doesn’t seem to be a member of the “A” team, but he does occasionally rock a black hoodie. So is he to be trusted?
We think yes and no. Either Lucas is easy to read, or he’s a really good actor, because through the seasons we think it’s fairly easy to point out when he’s gone off his rocker and when he’s genuinely scared. But we’re on the fence about whether to believe his latest confession about Mona (Janel Parrish) blackmailing him.
On the one hand, he does seem really scared. And Mona is definitely capable of blackmailing … not to mention the fact that we saw Toby (Keegan Allen) try to run Lucas over. At this point, it’s perfectly understandable for Lucas to want to get away from all of this stuff.
But then there’s the fact that we saw him in the black hoodie again in Season 3, Episode 15: "Mona-Mania!", and he admitted to starting the fire in Season 3, Episode 14: “She’s Better Now.” He claims he was trying to scare off Mona or whatever, but we’re still not convinced that it wasn’t Mona’s idea. If Lucas is capable of causing harm, then he’s certainly capable of lying, even to Hanna (Ashley Benson).
So the question is: Is Lucas really being blackmailed, or is he trying to hold onto his friendship with Hanna while still voluntarily helping the “A” team? Lucas, we’re sorry to tell you this, but you can’t have your cake and eat it too.
Do you believe Lucas when he says he’s being blackmailed?
