In Pretty Little Liars Season 3, Episode 9: “The Kahn Game” we learned Ezra's (Ian Harding) big secret: He got his high school girlfriend pregnant, and then his terrible mother swept in and paid for the problem to “go away.”
But what, exactly, did making the problem go away mean for Ms. Fitzgerald? A fan asked PLL writer Lijah Barasz to clarify what happened, and Lijah very cryptically replied, "Ezra tells Aria Mama Fitzgerald paid Maggie to 'have it taken care of.' He hasn't talked to her since." Based on this sneak peek of Season 3, Episode 10: “What Lies Beneath” it sounds like Ezra himself might not know the details of the deal his mother struck with Maggie.
Looking at the situation, there are basically three options that make sense to us.
One is that Mama Fitzgerald paid Maggie to leave Ezra alone and raise their child without him (though probably with the financial support of the Fitzgeralds, either in ongoing payments or by one huuuuuge payoff at the beginning). If this is what happened, then the writers could always bring Ezra's kid into the story for added drama.
The second is that Mama Fitzgerald bribed Maggie to cut off contact with Ezra and put the kid up for adoption. This seems like it has less potential for drama, at least at this point — while the kid could theoretically track down his or her bio dad one day, at this point Ezra's child would probably be too young to do that.
The third option is that Ezra's mom pressured Maggie into having an abortion and cutting contact with Ezra. This was immediately where our minds went, since "taking care" of an unwanted pregnancy is normally a euphemism for having an abortion. In this case, there's no secret child in the mix, but it's possible that Maggie herself still harbors resentment about the way she was treated, and could pop up again.
