We cringe every time Detective Wilden (Bryce Johnson) is on screen on Pretty Little Liars — since the guy just radiates creepiness — so that meant we spent a lot of time cringing this week during Season 3, Episode 4: “Birds of a Feather.” First, Hanna (Ashley Benson) spots Wilden weaselling his way into Radley to talk to Mona (Janel Parrish) for over an hour, and then the guy pulls up alongside Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and asks how far it is to the lake house. So just what did Mona tell him?

Our first fear is of course that Mona ended up ratting out the girls and telling Wilden that they weren’t at the lake house on the night that Ali’s remains were stolen. Then again, Wilden is the type of guy to arrest first and ask questions later, so if he had any reason to suspect that Spencer and the girls did tamper with the remains, we’re guessing he would have just nabbed Spencer on the spot and taken her in for questioning.

Another possibility is that Mona knows something we don’t know about what may have happened at the lake house. We know that a pack of gum was found in the lake house, along with untraceable cell phones, in Season 2, Episode 16: “Let the Water Hold Me Down,” and so we now assume that the gum meant that Mona was there.

And during the party that Hanna threw for Caleb at the lake house (in Season 2, Episode 15: “A Hot Piece of A”), Mona and Noel (Brant Daugherty) were sneaking off while claiming to be skinny dipping — but we were suspicious. Also in that episode, Spencer catches Lucas (Brendan Robinson) tiptoeing into the attic, so Lucas was presumably up to no good as well. But what they were all doing there is still mysterious.

We also couldn’t help but wonder if we were getting a clue this week about Maya possibly hiding out at the lake house prior to her death. When her cousin Nate talks about how much she liked to canoe in the water, it made us wonder if he was trying to tell Emily something about Maya and the lake house.

Long story short, if Wilden himself goes up to the lake house and just so happens to get lost in the woods permanently, we can’t say we’d miss him.
