Pretty Little Liars Season 3, Episode 3: “Kingdom of the Blind” made one thing very clear: Melissa Hastings (Torrey DeVitto) did not carry her baby to term, and she lied about when she lost it. If Ms. Hastings is to be believed, she didn't know about the lie until Melissa revealed it three months ago in show time — after Season 2, Episode 25: “UnmAsked,” where she still appeared pregnant.
Of course, that opens up a whole new question: When did Melissa lose her baby? Here are the times that seem the most likely.
After the car crash at the end of Season 1: Melissa claimed her baby survived the car crash she and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) got into at the end of Season 1, but it's possible she was lying, or complications from the crash killed the baby later.
When she was on vacation around Season 2, Episode 6: Any time Melissa conveniently disappeared for a while raises red flags for us now.
When she was in Philly in Season 2, Episode 14: We know Melissa was in Philly and having medical issues, so it's possible she lost her baby around this time — though how she kept it from her parents, who were there with her, remains a question.
She was never pregnant: Of course, it's possible the whole pregnancy was a very well orchestrated lie. If Melissa is involved with "A" in some way — or if the N.A.T. club had their own agenda she was part of — it's possible she faked the whole thing to keep suspicion off of her. After all, who is going to suspect a pregnant woman of doing various nefarious and physically difficult things?
Of course, many of these options would require Melissa to manipulate a lot of doctors into helping her. Hmmm … Maybe Wren (Julian Morris) was involved somehow?
