There’s only one week until the Pretty Little Liars’ cliffhanger summer season finale but, should you believe the cast, it’s one whopper of an episode. Will the girls find Dr. Sullivan? Will any of them survive “A”’s round of punishments for confessing about being tortured? And what is in Ali’s box?

To get you ready for the mid-season finale on August 30, Wetpaint Entertainment got the dish straight from the mouths of our little liars, Troian Bellisario (Spencer Hastings), Ashley Benson (Hanna Marin), Lucy Hale (Aria Montgomery) and Shay Mitchell (Emily Fields), at a recent set visit to fictional Rosewood.

Want finale spoilers? Read on below.

1. Telling an outsider about “A” has dire consequences.

“It’s unlike anything we’ve ever done,” says Bellisario of the ramped up mid-season finale. “Now that ‘A’ has live bait, instead of just saying ‘We’re going to humiliate [and] expose you.’ ‘A’ now has a live person to say, ‘If you don’t step up to whatever I ask, this person is going to suffer.’ And that’s terrifying for the girls because it’s their actions that have brought Dr. Sullivan to that place.”

2. Emily’s relationship to Alison (Sasha Pieterse) may be closer than we think.

“It is very emotional,” says Shay Mitchell of Emily’s finale scene with Alison. “Emily has always been the one that was extremely fond of Alison, maybe in more ways than just as a friend. Whenever they got alone time, it is really special for Emily and she really loved all those times when it was just her and Alison. So, it’s a touching scene. You get to see her relationship with Alison and why the death really hit her harder than the other girls.”

3. “A” puts Spencer and Toby’s relationship in jeopardy.

“Oh, man. The mid-season finale is going to be huge for Spencer and Toby (Keegan Allen) because their relationship over this season has only been growing and deepening and becoming more and more beautiful and vulnerable and tender,” says Bellisario. “‘A’ zones in on that as her Achilles heel and goes right for it in a brutal, brutal way.”

4. Ezria may finally be exposed.

”’A’ punishes each of the girls and presents them with a task that they have to complete,” says Lucy Hale. “The task that Aria has to complete deals with Ezra, and in the finale you think there’s someone in their lives that is threatening to expose them once again. There’s the idea lurking that they could be outed for real this time, in front of her parents. You’ll see how that goes.”

5. The little liars get down 'n' dirty.

“It’s the one [scene] I can’t talk about,” says Hale when asked to dish on her favorite scene. “But it’s the one involving the mud. And the dresses and running around. You’ll know what I’m talking about once you see it. It’s fun.” Adds Benson, “That is one of the best nights. It was probably 3 a.m. and digging in the mud was awesome.”

6. Yes, there’s more to Ali’s box than we initially thought.

“In the finale, there’s an item that’s in the box that has to do with the tasks that ‘A’ gives them,” says Hale. But you’ll have to wait until the new episodes in January to find out how the box really comes in handy. “In the second half of the season, we use the box to lure in ‘A’ and play a trick on whoever ‘A’ might be.”
